About Skills For Living

Skills For Living is about breaking the cycle of poverty.

For the 2006-07 program, S4L collaborated with Habitat For Humanity, and created the first 20-20 Power Workshops.  51 families received a cumulative 615 hours of formal financial educational instruction provided in English and Spanish.  Seventeen families were accepted into a pilot financial mentoring program and 13 graduated with these results:

In September, S4L started a new course with 25 students.  To date, the families have increased their income by 30% with four more months to complete the course.

As we progress into 2008, S4L will continue the 20-20 Power Workshops, and mentoring families.  Our objective is to increase our families to more then 100 in the program.
